The Latvian National Guard Orchestra and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces invite to concerts
From 26 June to 13 July, in honour of the Centenary of the Latvian Army and the Independence War, the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces is going to visit Latvia, in order to perform concerts in Riga and other Latvian regions together with the Latvian National Guard Orchestra.
On 29 June at 16:00, the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces will perform at the St. Peter's Church in Riga.
On 30 June at 15:00, the Latvian National Guard Orchestra together with the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces are having a concert at Pilsētas dārzs in Kuldīga.
On 4 July at 19:00, the Latvian National Guard Orchestra and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Force will perform in the Jēkabpils City Festival.
On 5 July at 18:00, the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces will have a concert at the square near the monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the partisan troop of Latgale in Balvi within the Centenary of the Partisan Troop of Latgale and National Armed Forces Days in Balvi.
On 6 July starting from 14:00, at the 11.novembra krastmala in Riga there will be the grand concert in honour of the Centenary of the Latvian Army performed by the Latvian National Guard Orchestra, the Latvian National Guard Choir “Stars”, as well as the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Staff Orchestra of the Latvian National Armed Forces and various well-known Latvian artists.
The concert programme includes Latvian and Canadian original music and folk song arrangements.
During their visit, the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces will perform in the Canada Days at the Latvian National Armed Forces Headquarters and at the receptions organized by the Canadian Embassy in Riga, as well as in Tallinn, Estonia.
Last year, the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces already made a visit to Latvia, what is more, Captain Andis Karelis, Chief and Conductor of the Latvian National Guard Orchestra and the musicians of the Orchestra had the opportunity to collaborate with the Central Band in Ottawa, Canada. Also, Captain John Fullerton, Conductor of the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces and pianist Sergeant Natalia Lerner visited Latvia in May, this year. The upcoming visit continues the fruitful collaboration of the two orchestras.
The Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces was founded more than 70 years ago and is located in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada. The Orchestra performs in state protocol and military ceremonies, performs various concerts and represents Canada all over the world.
The Latvian National Guard Orchestra was founded on 1 November 2011. The Orchestra mainly consists of young music professionals or future professionals. The main task of the Orchestra is to promote the National Guard in the society of Latvia, and to provide musical performances in ceremonies for the National Guard and the National Armed Forces. The National Guard orchestra has taken part in many different city festivals and public events. The previous year has been full of different events and new collaborations – the Orchestra visited Michigan, the USA, as well as Canada. Also, the Orchestra also successfully participated in the XXVI Song and XVI Dance Celebration. The Latvian National Guard Orchestra collaborates with the Latvian National Guard Choir “Stars” and well-known artists regularly.
